In this time of social distancing, it may be hard for some of us to find a way to reach out to our community. In past years, we have asked congregants to bring donated school supplies to church for the Action Center’s annual distribution in August. The Action Center provides almost 5,000 Jefferson County homeless children in Pre-K through Grade 12 with a bag of school supplies and a new backpack. This year we can still donate school supplies – but it will be done online!  The MOE Board has set up a donation page for LUCC as a team endeavor.  The goal is to donate $500 of school supplies – but perhaps we could even surpass that figure! In order to donate as part of the Lakewood UCC team, please go to the following site:  roonga.com/lucc. On that page, you will see a list of the school supplies needed by the Action Center and you can select which supplies to donate. It’s quick, it’s easy, and you can make a difference for these kids!  They will be distributing the supplies on August 10-15, so make sure you do it soon.
