The Jeffco Action Center (JAC) continues to collect and sell used stamps, so don’t throw away your first class stamps. Tear them off, and we will trim them. If you trim them, keep 1/4-inch border if possible. Once the perforated edge of the stamp is damaged, it is not usable. There will be a box on the Welcome Center Counter in the Narthex for your donation of old stamps. Thank you!
Tuesdays beginning January 14, 6:30 pm
This is an adult curriculum from the United Church of Christ designed to invite church members to engage in safe, meaningful, substantive, and bold conversations on race. For five Tuesdays, beginning January 14, through February 11, we’ll spend time in sacred and brave space learning and dialogue about race, through the lens of White Privilege. We won’t be solving racism in five weeks, as it’s systemic, however, this is an important first step in the commitment for allyship and racial equity. While the hope is that you’ll be able to attend all five sessions, don’t let missing one or more keep you from this most important conversation. Sessions will go from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm and childcare will be provided. Please see Rev. Mollie with any questions.
We are happy to announce that we will be offering a grief group beginning in January. The dates and times are still being determined. We will publicize them once everything is set. In the meantime, please let Pastor Curt know if you are interested in attending.
Due to New Year’s Day, the office will be closed Wednesday, January 1. Additionally, Rev. Mollie will be out beginning January 4 through January 11. Pastor Curt will be on call during this time. Thank you in advance, and Happy New Year from all of us at Lakewood UCC!
Sacred Circles are groups of 4-8 women that gather regularly for deepening relationships, support, and spiritual formation. Think of it as a book group where the text is the stories of our lives. Each circle meets on their own schedule and decides together how they want their circle to function. Some Circles meet in people’s homes, others go out to dinner, others gather at the church. Some meetings are during the day, others in the evening. There is no wrong way to Sacred Circle. We will be forming new Sacred Circles starting in January. If you are interested in being part of a Sacred Circle, please consider attending our Information Session on Sunday, January 19 at 11:30 am (following worship). If you want to join a circle, but can’t attend the Information Session, please contact Pastor Curt.
Do you like to clean out other people’s closets? Does organizing spark joy in you? Join a few others on January 2 and January 23 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm to clean out and organize part of the basement storage and the Stage room closet. Let Rev. Mollie know if you are coming.
We are looking for happy helpers to help us ring in the new year taking down our holiday decorations following service on Sunday, January 5! We’ll take all the help we can get, even if you are only able for a short time, to help!

Christmas is almost here! This Sunday we celebrate the fourth and final Sunday in the season of Advent: Love. Love can sometimes seem like a warm, fuzzy, and squishy word, but what happens when love is fierce? What does it look like when love is embodied and enfleshed? What kind of love leads us to make meaningful connections across boundaries and divides? Join us this Sunday as Pastor Curt preaches on the fierce and embodied love of God we meet in the story of Joseph and Mary learning they are going to have a baby that will change the world.

For over 100 years, the Christmas Fund for the Veterans of the Cross and the Emergency Fund has been a way to ensure that a light of love and hope will always shine for faithful servants of our church who find themselves facing unforeseen financial need. Last year, they were able to provide assistance for over 1,000 families in need! Our collection of donations for the Christmas Fund this year will be during service on Sunday, December 22! On behalf of hundreds of clergy and lay employees and their families whose lives were touched by your support of last year’s Christmas Fund Offering, they offer their sincere thanks for your generosity!
