SUMMARY:La Foret Youth Retreat
DESCRIPTION:This fall’s theme is re:Claim the Name. During the retreat\, we will be naming\, discussing\, unpacking\, and playing with words and phrases that are thrown about in Christianity. We will be encouraging the youth to define and develop personal understandings of these theological words and themes for themselves. At our Fall Retreats\, we invite church youth groups to come together in order to help the local congregations solidify youth friendships at the start of the program year. As much as possible\, we place youth groups in cabins together and program the weekend to allow for youth-group bonding and conversation time as well as large-group gatherings\, free time\, and evening events in which campers catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Any and all youth grades 6-12 are welcome. Scholarships are available\, we never want finances to keep youth from enjoying the retreat. See Curt Preston for details. SUMMARY:Youth Service Project at DenUM
DESCRIPTION:YAC is going to be participating in Denver Urban Matters’ annual Food For All event on Nov. 20th. They will gather with other youth groups from around the Denver area to put together complete Thanksgiving meal boxes for families in need. In preparation for the event\, we need food! So\, I’d like to call on the beautiful people of Lakewood UCC to donate the following items:\n\n 	box dry stuffing\n 	can or mix gravy\n 	canned corn\n 	canned green beans\n 	crunchy fried onions\n 	canned cream of mushroom soup\n 	canned fruit cocktail\n 	box Jell-O\n 	box or can of sweet potatoes\n 	can of cranberries\n 	box\, can or mix of pie filling\n 	pie crust (non-perishable please)\n 	$10 gift card to a local grocery store\n 	Cash or Check donation made out to “DenUM”\n\nThere will be a huge storage bucket in the welcome area at LUCC for these donations as well as a flyer with information about what items are needed. Please bring these items any time up until worship on November 20th. Cash donations are of course quite welcome and can be given either as a check to the church with “DenUM” in the memo line or in a white offering envelope from the pews with “DenUM” written on the outside.
