The Care For Creation ministry at Lakewood UCC would like to invite the congregation to a celebration of St. Francis’s care for animals.  On Saturday\, October 6\, Rev. Mollie will be Blessing the Animals in our lives who are our companions or sustain us in one form or another. The invitation is to bring your dogs\, cats\, rodents\, chickens\, bees\, fish\, hedgehogs\, reptiles\, etc. to be blessed for the work they do and to honor the special relationship between God and all of God’s creatures. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in joining the weekend mission trip to La Puente in Alamosa CO? Adults and youth 12 and older are encouraged to be part of this impactful trip. We’ll leave Friday\, September 28 in the afternoon\, returning Sunday\, September 30 in the afternoon. La Puente is a non-profit that serves the San Luis Valley by providing food\, shelter\, and other assistance to those experiencing homelessness and community members in crisis. Our work will include gleaning\, cooking at the shelter\, and may include working in the food bank\, the thrift store or their vegetable garden. Before we return\, we’ll make our way to the Sand Dunes for some fun and devotions. Total estimated cost per person is $60 or less including lodging\, food and transportation. There she stumbles upon the discovery of her life – a treasure trove of ancient Scots-Irish ballads\, songs that have been handed down from generation to generation\, preserved intact by the seclusion of the mountains. With few allies such as his mentor\, John Newton\, a slave ship captain turned repentant priest who penned the great hymn\, “Amazing Grace\, Wilberforce fruitlessly fights both public indifference and a moneyed opposition determined to keep their exploitation safe. Nevertheless\, Wilberforce finds the inspiration in newfound love to rejuvenate the fight with new ideas that would lead to a great victory for social justice.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a presentation at Lakewood UCC following the worship service to learn more about the obstacles Colorado Dreamers face in gaining access to postsecondary education and how you can help. This presentation will be given by members of the Metropolitan State University of Denver’s (MSU Denver’s) Dreamer Network. This organization is comprised of dedicated professionals within the university whose goal is to advocate for equitable policies\, educate the community\, plan events and raise funds to support Dreamers students. MSU Denver serves a larger number of undocumented students who qualify for in-state tuition than any other 2- or 4-year institution in Colorado.
