DESCRIPTION:The feast of St. Francis\, the patron saint of animals and the poor\, is held in October. The Care For Creation ministry at Lakewood UCC would like to invite the congregation to a celebration of St. Francis’s care for animals.  On Saturday\, October 6\, Rev. Mollie will be Blessing the Animals in our lives who are our companions or sustain us in one form or another. The invitation is to bring your dogs\, cats\, rodents\, chickens\, bees\, fish\, hedgehogs\, reptiles\, etc. to be blessed for the work they do and to honor the special relationship between God and all of God’s creatures. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in joining the weekend mission trip to La Puente in Alamosa CO? Adults and youth 12 and older are encouraged to be part of this impactful trip. We’ll leave Friday\, September 28 in the afternoon\, returning Sunday\, September 30 in the afternoon. La Puente is a non-profit that serves the San Luis Valley by providing food\, shelter\, and other assistance to those experiencing homelessness and community members in crisis. Our work will include gleaning\, cooking at the shelter\, and may include working in the food bank\, the thrift store or their vegetable garden. Before we return\, we’ll make our way to the Sand Dunes for some fun and devotions. Total estimated cost per person is $60 or less including lodging\, food and transportation. DESCRIPTION:Confirmation\n2018-2019 is a Confirmation year for Lakewood United Church of Christ!  If you are 8th grade or older and interested in going through the Confirmation program\, please let Rev. DESCRIPTION:Summer tends to be the sleepy season at Lakewood UCC. School lets out\, people go on vacation\, and church activities shift down a gear. Everything just moves a little slower. Hopefully by now though\, everyone’s feeling rested and eager to get going again. We’ll kick off our Fall season on September 9 with our choirs back in action and a celebratory potluck after the service. Our youth group\, YAC\, will have its own kick-off as well. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual “Worship in the Park” service in Anderson Park* (4355 Field St\, Wheat Ridge\, CO 80033). We’ll get things rolling with a pre-service sing-a-long\, then an hour of worship followed by a picnic lunch. Steve and Phil Goebel will provide their special homemade root beer and Fellowship will supply the ice cream to make floats. We’ll also have water available. Please bring any other food and drink you want. This is always one of our most popular services of the year\, so mark your calendars now! DESCRIPTION:Taizé-style worship comes to us from the Taizé community\, an ecumenical Christian group based in France. Songs consist of simple\, repeated phrases\, and instead of a sermon\, there’s an emphasis on contemplation and silence. Some describe it as a massage for the soul. Over the last couple years\, this has become one of our most popular worship services. Join us for “Tea on the Titanic.” Our guest speaker is Penelope Carlevato\, the authority on all things Titanic. She will speak about the elegant traditions and customs of afternoon tea on a world-class ocean liner. Space is limited and tickets are required this year.
