This documentary follows UCC Reverend Robin Meyers and Unitarian Universalist Reverend Marlin Lavanhar as they rise against the tides of Christian fundamentalist entrenchment in conservative Oklahoma. The ministers join forces with other faith leaders as they engage in the challenge of confronting the divisive theology espoused in the majority churches in Bible Belt territory. Because this is a special showing\, there will be a live Q&A with story consultant James Kasper. We are going to buy our tickets in bulk and seating is very limited. Some are sad. All will help us engage the questions of life\, death\, and what we do with what we’ve been given in between.\n\n \n\nAugust 26\n\nJulie & Julia (PG-13)\n\nIn 1949\, Julia Child (Meryl Streep) is in Paris\, the wife of a diplomat\, wondering how to spend her days. She tries hat-making\, bridge\, and then cooking lessons at Cordon Bleu. There she discovers her passion. In 2002\, Julie Powell\, (Amy Adams) is about to turn 30 and is underemployed with an unpublished novel. She decides to cook her way through “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” in a year and to blog about it. We go back and forth between these stories of two women learning to cook and finding success. Sympathetic\, loving husbands support them both\, and friendships\, too\, add zest.\n\n \n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:We’re back at our favorite spot–Prospect Park in Wheat Ridge (44th Ave. and Robb St.) This service has a relaxed and casual feeling as we sing along with guitars\, hang out at picnic tables\, and enjoy worship in the glory of God’s great cathedral of creation. Feel free to bring a camping chair or other seating if you need a seat with back support. Root beer floats are provided and bring your own picnic lunch– and wear a bolo tie if you’ve got one! DESCRIPTION:An annual staple of our summer adult education offerings has been the Summer Film Series. This year our series will focus on cinematic answers to the question\, “What’s the point of life?” In each film\, the protagonist is struggling with a version of this question. Some are funny. Some are sad. All will help us engage the questions of life\, death\, and what we do with what we’ve been given in between.\n\n \n\nAugust 19\nGarden State (R)\n\nAndrew Largeman (Zack Braff) ran away from his home\, parents\, and any sort of real responsibility. He shuffled through life in a lithium-induced coma until his mother’s death inspired a vacation from the pills to see what might happen. He began to feel the pain he had longed for and began to have a genuine relationship with a girl who had some problems of her own.\n\n\n\n
