SUMMARY:Lenten Drive 2025
DESCRIPTION:Faith in Action is continuing a Lenten tradition of hosting a donation drive during the Sundays of Lent. Keeping in mind the Lenten theme of What Love Can Do\,  Love can…. welcome refugees and help with their transition to this country. We as people of faith\, will lift up this family’s story: Mohammad\, Ruba and their children. We will demonstrate hope and love in the midst of the rhetoric of fear and hate that has overtaken our politics.\nThis Sunday and next\, in addition to accepting cash donations (or checks made out to Lakewood United Church of Christ (memo line Syrian family) and Walmart gift cards of any denomination\, we will be collecting household goods for the family. You can find the list of items needed on the table in the Narthex! Thank you for your participation this season!

SUMMARY:Taize Style Special Service
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 31\, will be our Taizé-style worship service. What is Taizé-style worship? The Taizé community is an ecumenical monastic order in southern France founded in 1940. Taizé worship is known for its simplicity of style. It uses short phrases\, sung repeatedly\, and periods of silence to draw us into the experience of finding God’s presence where we are. One Taizé monk said\, “It is a time to rest in God\, to let the words listened to and sung penetrate one’s being.”
