September 18: “Solomon’s Wisdom and Folly.” 1 Kings 3-11. Solomon loves God. God asked what he wanted. Solomon wanted understanding, which God granted. When old, however, Solomon’s heart turned from God. Purpose: To understand the importance of choosing God’s wisdom. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me.” On most Sundays, pre-K through 6^th grade children start in worship and then leave for Sunday School during the “Passing of the Peace.” Our volunteer teachers, or Spiritual Mentors, welcome the children into a positive, loving, fun, and safe space. Through age-appropriate arts and crafts, drama, creative writing, discussion and play that is grounded in Bible stories and spiritual practices, children encounter God, learn about Jesus, and begin the journey of discovering how to live as thoughtful and engaged Christians.
