Thank you to all who came for a great first gathering of Brewatitudes, a monthly gathering to discuss theological topics in a casual atmosphere. Each month we will engage in a new topic at the intersection of theology, living, faith, and culture. Our next gathering will be August 19, from 3pm-4:30 pm at Green Mountain Beer Co. Food trucks will be available, beer is optional, openness to good conversation a must! Other upcoming conversations may be around vocation, privilege, violence and the Bible, religious vs. spiritual, and others as determined by the group. Discussion will be facilitated by Rev. Mollie, contact her with any questions.
Through the Church’s boards and committees, our congregational life is sustained in the form of worship, church operations, mission, communications, faith formation, finance, personnel, care for creation, adult education, endowment, fellowship, and congregational care. Participation on a board or committee is both an opportunity to share your gifts of grace and to develop a deeper understanding of those gifts.
If you feel called to serve, in any capacity, please contact the Vice Moderator, Paul Michalec, about the various opportunities that exist. Paul can be reached at email@example.com or 303-988-1359.
Offering hospitality and extravagant welcome is an important part of our ministry. Every Sunday we have “welcomers” stationed near the entrance to the church. Their job is simple—welcome people. If you are interested in being a part of this simple yet critical ministry of the church, please come to the Welcomer Training on February 25 at 9:15 am. The training lasts about 30 minutes. Questions? Contact Curt Preston.
Have you been hearing about Sacred Circles? If you are interested or just curious, this meeting is for you. Excerpts from the book Sacred Circles, “There is undeniable power in the shape of the circle. It is one of the fundamental energy patterns in the natural world. Circles collect and focus energy. We sit facing inward. We create our own rituals, we are sisters in spirit and bosom buddies.” If you would like to explore this idea plan to join us on Sunday, November 5, at 11:30 in the conference room. Questions? Contact Pat Hayes, Sue Johns, or Sheila Weise.
Our Mental Health Ministry group will be taking the lead on this worship service, sharing their stories and insights about mental health. This is sure to be an educational and touching service that you won’t want to miss!
A sign-up sheet is now out at the Welcoming Center. If you haven’t been to a retreat before this is the one to attend. And if you have been to others…. This is the one not to miss! Our cost this year is $120.00, and scholarships are available to those who need them. We hope you can make it, it is always a fulfilling and enjoyable time! Contact: Daryl Foelske, Kane McNeil.
Let’s have another church-wide fellowship to celebrate the First Thanksgiving!
How can you get creative for this next church-wide fellowship celebration on Sunday, November 20? Cornbread or corn muffins with a berry jam; bunches of grapes, carrots, a piece of fish, some sliced turkey or pumpkin anything! Sign-up now a small contribution to honor the First Thanksgiving in the Narthex! We have so much to be thankful for and celebration during Fellowship is a way of expressing our gratitude for our wonderful community.
Join us in our mission to foster a better understanding of mental health as a public health issue, and explore the myths and truths related to mental illness and its impact on our community. There is help and hope, especially when we talk about these issues out loud. For more information contact Dorothy Miller.
