In the midst of the season of hustle and bustle and as we move toward the longest night of the year, you are invited to a Blue Christmas Service. This simple service creates a sacred space for those who need it in the midst of dark times, grief, uncertainty, loneliness this season. This reflective, accepting service will remind us of God’s presence and hope in the midst of difficulty.
Through the Church’s boards and committees, our congregational life is sustained in the form of worship, church operations, mission, communications, faith formation, finance, personnel, care for creation, adult education, endowment, fellowship, and congregational care. Participation on a board or committee is both an opportunity to share your gifts of grace and to develop a deeper understanding of those gifts.
If you feel called to serve, in any capacity, please contact the Vice Moderator, Paul Michalec, about the various opportunities that exist. Paul can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-988-1359.
We hope you can join us and be part of our team for the Second Wind walk at Clement Park in Littleton. This fundraiser is especially relevant now with the recent teenage suicides, the second leading cause of death for teenagers in Colorado. The 2nd Wind Fund was started to provide mental health services for the youth who are at risk for suicide, especially those who can’t afford the treatment. The speakers and the Release of the Doves ceremony begin around 10 am, followed by a 1.5 or 3 mile walk. After the walk, there will be a barbecue lunch, live music, and silent auction. Cost is $30, with a t-shirt and lunch included. For more info, contact Linda Royval. Register here under our team name, Lakewood United Church of Christ.
Our Mental Health Ministry group will be taking the lead on this worship service, sharing their stories and insights about mental health. This is sure to be an educational and touching service that you won’t want to miss!
