The first Brewatitudes was a great gathering full of wonderful conversation! Throughout the summer, we will continue to engage monthly in a new topic at the intersection of theology, living, faith, and culture. Save the date for July 22 and August 19 at Green Mountain Beer Co, from 3-4:30 pm. Food trucks will be available, beer is optional, openness to good conversation a must. Discussion will be facilitated by Rev. Mollie, contact her with any questions!
Through the Church’s boards and committees, our congregational life is sustained in the form of worship, church operations, mission, communications, faith formation, finance, personnel, care for creation, adult education, endowment, fellowship, and congregational care. Participation on a board or committee is both an opportunity to share your gifts of grace and to develop a deeper understanding of those gifts.
If you feel called to serve, in any capacity, please contact the Vice Moderator, Paul Michalec, about the various opportunities that exist. Paul can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-988-1359.
Our Men’s Ministry breakfast is an easy and fun way to get to know some of the other guys in the church. The second Saturday of every month we gather at a local restaurant for breakfast to chat and deepen our relationships in a casual setting. We hope that you will plan on joining us. Restaurant: TBD. Questions? Contact Daryl Foelske.
A sign-up sheet is now out at the Welcoming Center. If you haven’t been to a retreat before this is the one to attend. And if you have been to others…. This is the one not to miss! Our theme this year is “Balancing Life.” As with other retreats, the location is our beautiful UCC camp: La Foret in the Black Forest area by Colorado Springs. We will gather together Friday evening, and depart after worship on Sunday. There will be lots of food, fun, and of course fellowship. Our cost this year is $120.00, and scholarships are available to those who need them. We hope you can make it, it is always a fulfilling and enjoyable time! Contact: Daryl Foelske, Kane McNeil.
Are you man enough for the Men’s Breakfast? More specifically, are you man enough to go to a local restaurant, hang out with a bunch of great guys, and eat a hearty morning meal? Of course you are. So come. Yes, we mean you. Restaurant The Egg and I Belmar, 7830 W Alameda Ave. Contact: Daryl Foeske.

Thanks to everybody who stopped by the tables in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday to indicate their interest in new small groups. If you couldn’t make it on Sunday but are intrigued by any of the three opportunities we presented (“Outdoor Adventurers,” “Pooped-Out Parents,” and “Food Friends”), we’ll have sheets out on the Welcome Center for you to put your name down. We’ll also be reaching out to people on the lists to see if we can get some groups together and make these ideas a reality. Contact: Susan Rumley.
The men of Lakewood UCC will once again break their fast together, this time at the Garrison Street Grill (608 Garrison St.). They’ll meet half an hour early, at 8:30 a.m., so anyone who wants to can volunteer at the Action Center later that morning. So, if you’re a man and you like breakfast, join them! If you’re man who doesn’t like breakfast, well, we don’t even know what to say to you. Contact: Daryl Foelske.
You might remember “Small Group Sunday” from a couple months ago. Ruth Rueter pointing a gigantic arrow at Susan Rumley? The bulletin board draped in gold lamé? See, you do remember. Anyway, several ideas for new small groups emerged from our post-worship discussion that day. The top three were a young families group (“Pooped-Out Parents”), a hiking/camping group (“Outdoor Adventurers”), and an in-home dinner group (“Food Friends”). If you’re intrigued by any of these groups, please join us in the Fellowship Hall after worship. We’ll have a table for each group, so anyone who’s interested can talk, share contact information, and maybe even schedule a first meeting! Contact: Susan Rumley.
