Called to Serve 2018-2019

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

Through the Church’s boards and committees, our congregational life is sustained in the form of worship, church operations, mission, communications, faith formation, finance, personnel, care for creation, adult education, endowment, fellowship, and congregational care. Participation on a board or committee is both an opportunity to share your gifts of grace and to develop a deeper understanding of those gifts.

If you feel called to serve, in any capacity, please contact the Vice Moderator, Paul Michalec, about the various opportunities that exist. Paul can be reached at or 303-988-1359.

Beacon Deadline

July 22, 2016

After producing 39 action-packed issues containing all the church news that was fit to print (and some that wasn’t), your Beacon Editor is moving on. The August issue will be his final Beacon. Who will replace him? What exciting new direction will the Beacon take? We don’t know yet. But we do know that if you’d like to contribute this month, you need to email your submissions to the church office or drop them in the Office Manager’s mailbox by this Friday.

We know how fond y’all are of our email address. But sadly, all good things must come to an end. Our old email address is being put out to pasture. From now on, please use our new address: If you forget, don’t worry about it. Emails sent to the old address will automatically forward to the new address.

Celebrating Our Graduates

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

It’s that time of year again! That time when students type the final period on their final paper, heave an exhausted sigh, and close their textbooks for the last time. That time when years of late nights and hard work are finally rewarded with degrees and diplomas. As usual, we’ll be celebrating Lakewood UCC graduates in our June newsletter. If you know of someone who should be recognized, please send us their name, a photo if possible, and some information about the school or program they’re graduating from and what their future plans might be. Contact: Jacob Liechty.

Adult Education Survey

The Adult Education Focus Group is looking for some answers! Below, you’ll find a link to a survey which asks a few questions about how you feel about Adult Education programs at Lakewood UCC. This will help us to gain insight into the best types of programs to offer here. The survey can be completed online, it’s easy, and it will only take a few minutes. If you’d rather complete a paper survey, one will be included in your Sunday bulletin. Just fill it out, then drop it in the offering plate or in the white dropbox outside the church office. To fill out an online survey, click here. Contact: Daryl Foelske.

New Website Rollout

May 15, 2016 @ 11:30 am - 12:00 pm

Deep in the caverns beneath 100 Carr Street, Steve Goebel, Jacob Liechty, and their team of dwarven laborers have been feverishly forging a new website for Lakewood UCC. Now, they’re ready to reveal their strange creation to the world. Um, all of which is to say, everyone is invited to join us in the Sanctuary after worship as we introduce our new website and show y’all how it works. Contact: Steve Goebel, Jacob Liechty.

Those of you who were at our worship service last Sunday will vividly remember the moment when the entire choir and congregation started singing a Christmas hymn because the Office Manager had put the wrong number in the bulletin. Yup, that happened. And it’s happened again. The Office Manager has been publicizing the start time for our Maundy Thursday Simple Supper as 6:30 p.m. when in fact it’s 6:00 p.m. Please note the correct time in your calendars and emblazon it on your hearts. And the next time you see the Office Manager, say, “Come on, Office Manager, get it together.”

New Signs

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

You might have noticed something new in the church building last Sunday. Signs! New signs! Your Communications Committee has been thinking about ways to make it easier for newcomers to navigate the church building, and we decided that directional signs might help. The signs we put up are a “beta test”: they’re temporary, and we want your feedback before we do anything more permanent. So let us know what you think! Are the signs clear? Do they give you directions to where you want to go? Would there be ways to improve them? Thanks in advance!
