An annual staple of our summer adult education offerings has been the Summer Film Series. This year our series will focus on cinematic answers to the question, “What’s the point of life?” In each film, the protagonist is struggling with a version of this question. Some are funny. Some are sad. All will help us engage the questions of life, death, and what we do with what we’ve been given in between.   August 19 Garden State (R) Andrew Largeman (Zack Braff) ran away from his home, parents, and any sort of real responsibility. He shuffled through life in a lithium-induced coma until his mother’s death inspired a vacation from the pills to see what might happen. He began to feel the pain he had longed for and began to have a genuine relationship with a girl who had some problems of her own.
