For four Wednesdays in July, join us in the Youth Room as our popular Summer Film Series switches from an environmental theme to our main focus: “Identity: Becoming Who We’re Meant to Be.” This week, we’re showing Whale Rider (PG-13, 2002), in which Pai, an 11-year-old girl growing up in a patriarchal Maori culture, must go against her grandfather and a thousand years of tradition in order to become the leader she is meant to be. Whether or not you’ve seen the movie before, you can expect plenty of food for thought as Pastor Curt leads us in a discussion of who we are and how we got here. Plus popcorn and drinks! And free childcare (available upon request)! What could be better?
