Musical Notes...
Music is central to the worship life of Lakewood United Church of Christ. We believe that God is so great, and our faith so richly diverse that no single kind of music will do. On any given Sunday, the music will range from traditional to contemporary including everything from classic hymns to gospel, folk, or modern music.
A beautiful eleven rank pipe organ graces the front of our sanctuary. The organ's quality of sound makes an instrument of this size difficult to match anywhere in Colorado's Front Range. The Hand Bell Choir, "C to Shining C," and adult Chancel Choir perform a variety of classical and modern anthems, meeting for practice on Wednesday evenings, beginning at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively. Mini Miracles, the children's choir, meets every Sunday at 9 before their Sunday school classes begin.
We have a special contemporary group, Anne Rowland & Company, with guitars, which leads our worship in song once a month. Spread throughout, we also are fortunate to have special music led by our youth/adults with their favorite instrument. This includes the voice, trumpet, flute, violin, bassoon, cello, piano, and even a harp.
Our music program is one of the best! We welcome all who have a love of music, whether old or young, talented or not, experienced or inexperienced!
