Adult Christian Ed...
Here at Lakewood UCC we believe that we never stop learning, discovering, and growing in faith. We have a wide variety of formats, times, and topics for a range of programs under the umbrella of "Adult Education."

Programs have included
Sunday morning discussions; themes and formats vary, as does who leads this
group. We have talked of "The Early Church" and "the Stations of the
Cross." Always interesting and interactive, this group is a great way to start
your Sunday. Monthly, we meet after church to have a "Sermon Talk-About,"
talking of the points within the sermon presented that
morning.
"Food for Thought" is an evening program that begins with a
meal and ends with education and discussion. One topic was "UCC, Who Are
We?"-a discussion on the United Church of Christ. We have had several
presenters who joined us from the Colorado Islamic Foundation. They presented
basic information on Islamic beliefs and practices, as well as a taste of their
most popular foods. Another program centered around the "Lost Boys of
Sudan" with a short documentary film and discussion with several so-called "Lost
Boys."

Wednesday Morning Bible Study is led by Pastor Curt from 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Format varies from a "Lectionary Bible Study," discussing the scriptures for the coming Sunday, to studying a particular book of the Bible (recently reading Paul's letter to the Romans) to short thematic studies like "Resurrection Stories in the Gospels," to viewing and discussing Rob Bell's Nooma-series videos. For more information on current studies, contact Pastor Curt.
The Wednesday Morning Bible Study began The Mustard Seed Ministry following a study of Brian MacLaren's "Everything Must Change". Here's how it works: Once a month we have baskets containing slips of paper listing an item that is needed by that month's particular recipient organization. While each organization's needs are many, to keep it simple we only list something like four different items. So your paper may say 'box of cereal', because that happens to be one of their biggest needs. And that's what you would bring the following Sunday. The idea is to cap the amount spent to no more than $10, usually much less. We invite you to participate and return the item (or items) the following Sunday. That's it!
We are so excited about this, because it can involve everyone who wants to take part, and the donation is small (just like the mustard seed) and affordable, but oh-so-important.
