Mission Moments...

"And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8

Lakewood UCC is committed to making a positive difference in the world. Called by Christ into service, we believe that God has given each of us gifts which can be used in service of our local community as well as the wider world. We believe that Good News is worth sharing. Our Board of Mission, Outreach and Evangelism is an energetic group of people dedicated to providing meaningful opportunities to engage in service.

Some of the opportunities include:

Welcome Center
We welcome all visitors
and guests to our worship
service each Sunday.

Blessing of the Animals
We gather to celebrate and bless our beloved pets and all creatures in our world.

Pridefest Parade
We march in the parade to show our respect and support for our GLBT friends.

South Lakewood Elementary School
We have adopted the school across the street from our church and provide school supplies, crossing guards, and help with special activities through the school year.

Thanksgiving Baskets
We gather food to provide Thanksgiving dinners to families in need.

Mitten Tree
We gather mittens, gloves, scarves,
and hats for children in need.

Paint-a-thon
We have participated in helping paint houses of adults in
need throughout the community.
Bonfils Blood Donations
Yearly, we hold an opportunity for the public to donate blood.

Mission Trip
September, 2009, a group of volunteers traveled to
Biloxi, MS, working on various service projects related to
hurricane relief through the local organization of
Back
Bay Mission
. In 2011, we went to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Free trade Coffee
Once a month, we sell Equal Exchange's coffee and cocoa during our fellowship hour. The proceeds of these sales benefit the worker-owned, earth-friendly businesses that produce these products.

Jeffco Action Center
Our church has a long history with this
organization. Currently we provide ongoing
food and clothing donations.

None of our activities would be possible without the work, love, and support of our entire congregation.
