February 5, 2012
This morning in the sermon, ‘On Not Fainting’ Curt spoke to
three kinds of days or moments. The one’s
that make you feel like you’re soaring, or running well, or just able to walk
through life. The scripture, Isaiah 40:
21-31, offers an additional description.
But, is fainting less miraculous that soaring? Is it a low expectation or nothing short of a
miracle? Perhaps, we focus too much on
God’s power and not on his presence in those tough days or moments.
A reminder for all of us: If you see someone you do not know, please take their hand, introduce yourself and invite them to our Fellowship Hour.
GUESTS Are you new to our service? Welcome; whether you are visiting from another church, looking for a church home, or just exploring, we are very happy you have joined us. Following the service, we invite you to come to the Welcome Center across from the Sanctuary doors. We have a gift for you, as well as a packet of information about our church.
CHILD CARE Child
care is available in the nursery from 9:30 a.m. until the end of the service.
Sara Ulricksen and Marissa Maestas are our child care providers; the team will
have youth assistants in the nursery. Child care is available for children 3
years and under. Visiting children are welcome. The nursery is located at the
far north end of the upper level. Please be sure to accompany your child(ren)
to and from the nursery to sign them in and out.

LENTEN DEVOTIONAL Are you looking for a new
approach to your Lenten reflection time this year? If so, Give It Up! Lent Devotional 2012, might provide this for you. The UCC Still Speaking Writers’ Group (who
provides a daily online devotion), and other contributing authors, have put
together short daily reflections which offer a new take on this Season that
usually stresses sacrifice and repentance, along with other Lenten
traditions. A limited number of copies
will be available for $1.50 each upon arrival.
SOUTH LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Next
time you're at the grocery store, consider picking up an extra bag of snacks
for the kids at South Lakewood Elementary!
Most families pack daily snacks, but there are those that are frequently
unable to do so and we're helping out by making some available for teachers to
use at their discretion. The best snacks
are nut free, healthy options like raisins/craisins,
goldfish crackers, pretzels, etc. Our
whole community thanks you for your help!
